Radiance



We are in for rain this weekend, and tonight the Moon rose through a cloudy haze....

I overexposed it in the shot above to bring out the clouds -- and, in the one below, to bring out the street lights.



Two-and-a-half hours later the sky had cleared, at least long enough for me to get in a decent shot of lunar detail.



According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the Moon "rides high" tonight, meaning that it is at its highest above the celestial equator. (An explanation of the celestial equator is in the postscript to this shot.) Here, the Moon is almost 35 hours past Full.

Got deadlines to meet so this one's a quickie. Have a great weekend, all!
